EXTRA SUMMER SIZZLE COMING FROM HENRY

Craig Doyle Henry performs this weekend at the annual Jamaica Independence Day Celebration in Toronto; : Nikki Yeh
Mississauga CANANDA - Monday, December 6th 2004 - Looking to make your summer more sizzling? Then don't hesitate to get up and dance to Mississauga's Craig Doyle Henry live in concert.
The urban artist will be performing this weekend at the annual Jamaica Independence Day Celebration in Toronto.
It's great to see hip-hop alive and well in the community, since more often it may seem like rock and punk styles steal the local music scene. Henry prefers to include a bit of every music type to grab the attention of audiences.
"My music is a fusion of hip hop, reggae, R & B, and gospel," said Henry, who attended Streetsville Secondary School and St. Francis Xavier. "Every now and then I put a little rock edge or funk, but there's always a pop feel."
Thus the 25-year-old performer follows his own advice to others who are trying to succeed in music: "Always advance your craft and never limit yourself."
Influenced by Bob Marley, P. Diddy, and Michael Jackson, Henry's sound is energetic enough to motivate a crowd to dance and sing along to the music.
The local artist's single, Gimme That Chance, is an upbeat reggae tune with R&B vocals by independent singer, Shirlette Shirlette. Henry's single is the sort of song that rolls along in your head non-stop, which makes him even more successful at exposing his music since people can easily remember his beats.
Let's dive into Henry's musical resumé: the performer has been dabbling with music ever since he was 13, where he began to write his own songs. Henry finally performed his music to the public when he was 17.
From past performances, Henry has received positive feedback from his fans; he reminisces his first show where "as soon as I did my first two lines, the crowd went crazy!"
The urban artist can be seen performing in Springfield, Mass. a few times a year with his other music project, urban gospel group House of David Productions. This following September, Henry will release his own full-length album.
What can we look forward to at Henry's upcoming concert?
"Expect to have a whole lot of fun. (People can) get their groove on," said Henry. Henry will perform his own original tunes as well as his new single, Get On Up, a reggae-dance song that includes a hint of funk soul. The annual Jamaica Independence Day Celebration will take place at Keelesdale Park at 2801 Eglinton Ave. W. in Toronto. All ages are welcome. Henry will hit the stage between 12-4:30 p.m. Tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 at the gate.
To purchase tickets, or inquire about the event, call 416-473-3439 or 416-703-8063, or 416-652-1062. Check out Craig Doyle Henry's webpage at http://www.craigdoylehenry.com to download Gimme That Chance.
